📘 How to Play Pattern Sequence

In Pattern Sequence you'll see a row of items in the middle of the screen — sometimes colored circles, sometimes shapes, numbers, or an item that changes size. At the end of the row is a question mark; your job is to pick the one option, out of four, that correctly follows the sequence's rule.

  1. Watch the whole sequence from start to end and look for a pattern: are the same items repeating, are the numbers going up or down, or are two things changing at once?
  2. Think about what should take the question mark's place, then tap the matching option among the four choices below.
  3. Get it right and a new sequence appears — it may be a little harder, or a completely different type of pattern.

👶 What to expect at ages 5-10

A 5-year-old can easily solve the first rounds' simple two-item repeats (like red-blue-red-blue). Once number sequences and combo patterns appear (usually after round 10), the difficulty rises to a level that suits 8-10 year olds better; younger children can play together with an adult at that point.

🏠 At home and in class

An adult can read the sequence out loud together with the child ('red, blue, red, blue... what comes next?') to help direct their attention to the pattern. In class, several children can take turns looking at the same screen and calling out their guess.

💡 Tips

  • Don't guess before seeing the WHOLE sequence — some patterns that look simple at first change partway through.
  • In number sequences, find the difference between two numbers in a row — that difference always stays the same.
  • In size-order rounds, the item itself doesn't change, only its SIZE does — pick the right size.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What age is Pattern Sequence suitable for?

Pattern Sequence is designed for children aged 5-10. The first rounds are very simple, so a 5-year-old can try it alone; as the sequences get longer and the rules more complex, it stays fun for older kids too.

How many types of patterns are in the game?

There are six different pattern types: simple repeating patterns, increasing/decreasing number sequences, mirror (symmetric) patterns, size-order sequences, and combo patterns where two things change at once. The game cycles through these types, so no round feels like a copy of another.

What happens if I pick the wrong answer?

There's no penalty. A wrong pick makes the button shake briefly and shows a friendly 'try again' message — you can try as many times as you need until you find the right answer.

When does the game end?

It doesn't. After 24 hand-designed rounds, the game keeps generating new, gradually harder sequences on its own — you can keep playing as long as you like.

Is Pattern Sequence free? Do I need an account?

The game is completely free. No sign-up, registration or payment is needed — it starts as soon as the page loads.
