There are two boards: one holds your ships, the other your opponent's hidden fleet. Take turns firing at a square on the enemy board. 💥 means a hit — you shoot again; 🌊 means a miss and the turn passes. When every square of a ship is hit, it sinks. Sink the whole fleet first to win. Ships are placed at random and never touch each other, so after a hit, look around it: the rest is nearby.
🧠 What it builds
This game targets deduction and reading coordinates. Short, regular sessions (10-15 minutes a day) work better than one long sitting.
📱 Where it runs
Works in the browser on phone, tablet and desktop — no install, no sign-up. Turn the phone sideways and the layout rearranges itself, keeping every control finger-sized.
🎯 Who it is for
Designed for ages 6-12. Younger children can play with an adult, older ones on their own.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Can I place the ships myself?
Ships are placed at random, but "Shuffle ships" gives you a new layout until you like one; the layout locks with the first shot. Drag-and-drop placement was left out because it is fiddly for young children.
How many ships and how big is the board?
Upright on a phone or on a computer: an 8×8 board with 4 ships (4, 3, 2 and 2 squares). On very narrow screens and in landscape the board shrinks (6×6 or 4×8) with 3 ships, so every square stays finger-sized.
In 2-player mode can I see the other board?
No. Each player only sees their own target board on their turn; when the turn changes a "pass the phone" curtain drops and the other player taps "I'm ready".
Does the computer cheat?
No, it never sees your ships. After a hit it tries the neighbouring squares; otherwise it fires in a checkerboard pattern — just like a good human player.
Why do I shoot again after a hit?
That is the common house rule: a hit keeps the turn. The game flows faster and finding a ship becomes exciting because you get to finish it.
