📘 How to Play Snake Duel

Snake Duel is the two player version of classic snake. Two snakes — green and orange — share one board and chase the same apple. Eating makes you longer, but every extra ring narrows the space you and your rival have left. Winning is less about speed and more about using space well.

1. Pick a difficulty. In Slow mode snakes pass through walls, so nobody is knocked out by the edge — start here the first time.
2. Green uses W A S D, orange uses the arrow keys. On a phone there are two separate control pads below the board.
3. Whoever reaches the red apple first grows one ring and scores 10 points; a new apple appears immediately.
4. Hitting your own tail, your rival's body (and in Normal or Fast mode the wall) loses you the round.
5. If both heads enter the same square at once the round is a tie — so cutting your rival off is risky.

🎯 What to expect at this age

Children aged 6-8 usually chase the apple and ignore the rival at first; that is expected, they are still learning to steer one snake. Ages 9-12 quickly discover cutting off, cornering and using the apple as bait. In Slow mode a round lasts 1-2 minutes; in Fast mode it drops to 20-30 seconds.

🏠 At home and in class

Ideal for siblings or a child-and-adult pair. Because it runs on a single device it gives real practice in taking turns and coping with losing. In class, calling two pupils up for short rounds works well as a break activity.

💡 Tips

• Your rival's body counts as a wall: a long snake is strong but clumsy.
• Hugging the edge feels safe but leaves no room to turn back.
• In Slow mode walls do not kill, so you can leave one edge and reappear at the other to surprise your rival.
