Goblins march on the castle from three separate roads. You gather wood and stone, build towers, and also raise an army to raid the enemy camps. Castle Siege is not a pure tower-placement game — it asks for resource management and a real offense/defense balance: defend only and the later waves will eventually overwhelm you; never go on the offensive and no road ever gets easier.
1. Send workers to a resource
Tap a tree or a rock — the worker walks there, gathers, brings it back to the castle and returns on its own. No need to give orders one by one; once sent, it keeps going until that resource runs out.
2. Build towers and a barracks
Spend wood and stone to place towers along the road — each new tower costs a bit more than the last. Build a barracks to start training warriors and archers.
3. Face the first wave
Waves open up gradually: the first wave comes from a single road, then a second, then a third road joins in. Towers fire automatically while you keep preparing.
4. Raise an army
Select every warrior and archer at once with the ARMY button, or hold shift and drag to box-select a group.
5. Raid a camp
Send your army to attack a goblin camp. Destroying it stops that road's attacks for good and pays out loot — defense alone will not win the game, raiding is the real payoff.
6. Clear all 60 rounds
The campaign runs a full 60 waves, and enemy numbers climb steadily as you go. Survive the 60th wave and the castle wins.
What to expect at this age
An 8-9 year old usually pours every coin into towers first and neglects the barracks — that holds up for roughly the first 15-20 waves, then the attacks start breaking through. Around age 10-11, the "economy first, then towers, then an army" order clicks. By 12-14, the real skill is timing the camp raid: attack too early and your defense is thin, wait too long and all three roads pile up at once.
At home and in class
Works well taking turns: one child manages the workers, another builds towers, a third commands the army and raids a camp. After each wave, asking "which road sent the most goblins, and why?" turns into real map-reading. At 60 waves it is also a natural fit for spreading the campaign across several short sessions instead of one long sitting.
Tips
- Don't think of towers alone — pair them WITH a barracks: towers slow enemies down, an army finishes them off.
- Each new tower costs more than the last one, so a few well-placed towers beat covering every spot.
- Destroying a camp stops that road's attacks for good — taking one down early makes the rest of the run much easier.
- A worker whose resource runs out automatically moves to the next tree or rock in the same cluster — no need to reassign it by hand.
- To select several soldiers at once, hold shift and drag a selection box, or just press the ARMY button.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Is Castle Siege free?
Yes. Completely free, ad-free, no account needed. Opens in the browser, no install.
What age is it for?
Ages 8-14. Managing resources and deciding when to go on the offensive takes a bit more planning than a pure tower-placement game like Castle Watch.
Does it work on phones?
Yes, built for touch — tap to select, drag to pan the camera. On touch devices without a shift key you can still select units one at a time by tapping each in turn.
How long does it take?
A full 60-wave campaign takes roughly 25-40 minutes in one sitting — early rounds are short, later rounds speed up as the prep time between waves shortens.
Does it save progress?
No, progress is not saved — every playthrough starts fresh. Whether the castle falls or you win, a restart button takes you straight into a new game.
Can you actually finish all 60 rounds?
Yes, but not by turtling. In our own testing, a playstyle that never attacks starts struggling around wave 9; a playstyle that also raids camps and shuts down those roads can carry the castle at full health all the way to wave 60.
