📘 How to Play Color Snake

Color Snake is a calm colour game built for younger children. The box at the top says which colour you are looking for — by its colour, its shape and its emoji. Steer the snake onto that fruit. Eating the right colour changes the snake's colour and you start looking for a new one.

1. Choose how many colours are in play: 3 for beginners, 4 once used to it, 6 for children who know their colours well.
2. Look at the box at the top: it says something like "Now: 🍎 ● RED". The fruit you need is drawn on the board with the same shape and emoji.
3. Steer the snake to it with the arrow keys, a swipe, or the pad below the board.
4. Eating the right colour scores 10 points, adds a ring and turns the snake a new colour.
5. Touching the wrong colour does NOT end the game: the box flashes red, the snake loses one ring and you carry on.
6. Walls never kill in any mode — you leave one edge and return on the other.

🎯 What to expect at this age

Children aged 4-5 practise colour names and the idea of "which one now" in the 3-colour mode; heading for the wrong fruit happens often, which is expected and never punished. At 6-7 the real challenge is not naming the colour but holding back the urge to grab the nearest fruit — the nearest one is usually the wrong colour. At 8 the 6-colour mode becomes a genuine attention game.

🏠 At home and in class

A quiet way to rehearse colour names: because wrong answers are not punished, children are not afraid to try. Asking the child to say the colour out loud reinforces the names. Colour-blind children can play too: every colour also carries its own shape (circle, square, triangle, diamond, star, hexagon) and its own emoji.

💡 Tips

• Find the right fruit with your eyes first, then turn — rushing takes you to the wrong colour.
• The nearest fruit is usually the wrong one; that is exactly what the game trains.
• Walls do not kill, so the short route is sometimes straight off the edge.
